General Arnold wrote his autobiography describing the fight to gain recognition for a separate US Air Force and the many successes and disappointments along the way. This is written from his perspective as a General in the US Army. It is after the writing of this autobiography that Arnold is given his commission as a General in the newly created US Air Force, now a separate service from the US Army and is how he became the only officer who has ever held the rank of five-star General in both services.
